Finding the right type of help when you’re battling addiction can seem challenging. You want treatment, but you’re unsure what “the right treatment” is, and you want to make sure you are getting the best possible opportunity to heal. A structured environment with supportive professionals is a good starting point for many people.
At Iron Bridge Recovery Center in Richmond, VA, our partial hospitalization program (PHP) provides you with the foundation you need to recover and rebuild while still engaging in your day-to-day life. Could this be the ideal treatment plan for your future?
What Is a Partial Hospitalization Program?
A partial hospitalization program is an alternative to residential treatment for addiction, or it can be used as a step down from residential treatment. It enables you to receive a significant amount of care and one-on-one support, but you do not have to remain at the treatment center 24 hours a day. This allows you the ability to continue to maintain your day-to-day responsibilities while still getting the mental health and substance use support you need.
Some people call PHPs “day treatment.” The benefit of PHPs is that they provide patients with a short-term intensive addiction treatment program that’s less demanding than residential treatment. Keep in mind that for those with serious addiction and complicated mental health disorders, a residential treatment program will be recommended. At Iron Bridge, our PHP can be a first step before transitioning to a less intensive outpatient care program.

- Help you to communicate honestly and openly with others. This can often help foster improved relationships at home while also allowing you to feel safe.
- Evaluate you for mental health disorders, such as depression or anxiety. If you believe you may have these conditions, our co-occurring treatment program can help you learn how to manage your mental health.
